Tasting Note
Maison Leroy Fleurs de Vignes Bourgogne Blanc: A new wine and a blend of Puligny Montrachet 1er Champ Gain with village and regional plots from the vintage between 2008 and 2011. There is a distinct note of petrol to the ever-so-mildly exotic nose that blends ripe dried yellow orchard fruit with orange pekoe tea nuances. There is seriously impressive density to the medium-bodied flavors in the context of the appellation as it’s rare to see this kind of concentration in a Bourgogne. The vaguely exotic character carries over to the almost creamy finish where it’s buffered by a hint of citrus. As the description suggests this is a big wine and while it’s not refined it is certainly impressive. To my taste this is drinking perfectly now though it will certainly hold with no trouble.
