Originating from vines managed with tressage—where vine shoots are woven together at the top of the trellis rather than trimmed, thereby preserving the apical shoot—Pillot’s 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean Rouge delivers notes of strawberry, plum, rose petal and dark cherry, interlaced with nuances of timut pepper. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, supple and harmonious, offering a layered core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, perfumed finish. It has come together impressively in vintage context.
