Jean-Michel Guillon, Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru 2024

(from a .18 ha parcel of 20+ year old vines in Mazis-Haut and fermented like the Clos de Vougeot). More obvious, but not invasive, wood still allows the ripe and spicy sauvage-infused aromas of white currant, game and dark cherry to be appreciated. There is again very good volume to the rich and equally generously proportioned flavors that manage to be both succulent yet powerful with similar depth and persistence on the slightly more structured finale. This is very promising and a wine that should easily repay extended keeping.
