Tasting Note
Like the Griotte, this has a masculine nose, sultry, a little aloof at this nascent stage, but developing some attractive black fruits and wild hedgerow aromas with time in the glass, a hint of blackcurrant wine gums in the background. The palate is full-bodied, supple and very ripe tannins, layers of black fruits and well integrated new oak (the 80% rather than 100% which I think makes a tangible difference). Very svelte and sensuous towards the finish. Great length and persistency. This really is a lovely Charmes-Chambertin. Drink 2011-2025+ Tasted by Neal Martin in January 2009.
