The 2004 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese (Gold Capsule) is one of the rare 2004 TBAs, and only 25 liters were produced from five hectares. Assembling the fruit of several pickings during the autumn, the wine displays a radiant golden-yellow color and offers a clear yet still discreet, iodine and earthy/slatey bouquet of concentrated yet refreshing stone fruit aromas (apricots). Intense, very fresh and elegant on the palate, this is a precise, long, highly digestible and even piquant TBA picked at 200° Oechsle. The wine is lean, straight and fine yet concentrated, sweet and salty-piquant and slatey on the refreshing finish. The palate is even spectacular. This has more than 320 grams of residual sugar combined with 7.5% alcohol. Tasted at the domain in September 2020. Drink from 2020-2070.
