La Vieille Julienne

Domaine de la Vieille Julienne is located at Châteauneuf du Pape, Southern Rhône where the wine regions got the best weather and soil, the oldest vines are 100 years old.

In 1905, the ancestors of Maxime Daumen bought this winery and Maxime Daumen renovated and upgraded the wine cellar. In 1990, Jean-Paul Daumen took care of the family estate and was gradually gaining its recognition as one of the most important winemakers in Châteauneuf du Pape. He is well known for his passion and dedication in wine making, his concept is very simply that is – use Vieilles Vignes, every hectare can only produce 2,000L of juice. Maxime Daumen once said “the basic but most important thing for the winery is the vines and the soil.”  Today, the winery already expended to 30 hectares and the average age of the vines is 60 years old.

Other than the Châteauneuf du Pape and Châteauneuf du Pape Réservé, they also produce Vin de Pay. The Winery blends various grape varieties however under the regulation of AOC, they can only call their creative wine “Vin de Pay”.
